Daydreaming (2025)

animation, 02’20”

In this animation, Shumska explores how media narratives construct a distorted vision of
a carefree, idealized past while suppressing historical facts and contemporary traumatic socio-political events. The work deconstructs media imagery and cultural symbols, as well as representations of well-known political and cultural figures. At the same time, it weaves together myths, fairy tales, dreams, and the fantasies of the artist’s alter ego.
The work was created as part of the project Fragments of Reality. Berlin–Tricity at the State Gallery of Art (PGS) in Sopot, curated by Marta Smolińska and Michalina Domoń.
