The project is a multi-part installation composed of video and painted canvases. At its centre is an interactive object – a computer cursor – that allows viewers to navigate and control the projected video material independently. Surrounding it is a series of paintings arranged in
a composition reminiscent of the grid layout of a social media profile. The canvases depict scenes from the everyday life of a fictional protagonist: selfies, photographs of breakfast and a pet, snapshots taken during a car journey and at the workplace – ordinary, familiar images that have become part of our shared visual experience.

This everyday reality is presented in a muted, pale colour palette, onto which documentary footage from the war in Ukraine is projected through video mapping. The work’s interactivity extends beyond the ability to alter the visual material; it also refers to today’s media narratives, the practice of blocking unwanted content, and algorithmic systems that determine what becomes visible and what remains hidden.

The side sections of the painting cycle consist of minimalist abstract canvases onto which video excerpts from a performance by the artist and her mother are projected. The installation functions as a record of the present, reflecting the experience of living through war via social media and the impossibility of distancing oneself from traumatic memories, even across considerable geographical and temporal distances.
