One home in reality, the other in memories. Migrants leaving their homeland are condemned to a life in between, divided into two homes, two families, two languages, two cultures, two realities. The memory of family and home overlaps with the memory of a new place of residence. The memory of loved ones remains in family photos; without our memory, the people in the photos lose their individuality. The project combines the artist’s own migration experiences with the experiences of other migrants, the stories we hear, and archival souvenir family photos combined with the architecture of a historic tenement house in Warsaw’s Old Town.
The project was implemented as part of the Gaude Polonia 2021 scholarship program of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland.
